Supporting our local community is really important and it’s something we really enjoy doing, however and whenever we can.

For the last couple of years, for example, Kala has volunteered at Ampleforth Plus in the Ampleforth valley in North Yorkshire. Home to a number of social enterprises run by the charity Autism Plus, Ampleforth Plus includes a production kitchen where Kala works two or three days a week with autistic adults to make chocolates!

Explains Kala: “Autism Plus is a fantastic charity that supports adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities and mental health conditions across Yorkshire and the Humber.

“They have a small chocolate production facility at Ampleforth Plus and regularly receive orders from people wanting different chocolates for all sorts of occasions, so I help out as much as possible. All of the money raised from the sale of the chocolates goes back into the social enterprise and charity enabling more and more people to benefit.”

Continues Kala: “I thoroughly enjoy working with everyone who comes to Ampleforth Plus. Helping and teaching others to make delicious chocolates is a real passion of mine. Seeing the pleasure and pride on someone’s face when they create something in the chocolate kitchen is just priceless and I’ll never tire of it.”
